Health Wise Paris is a volunteer, non-profit, English-speaking organization created to help Anglophones of all nationalities to navigate the French health care system. Membership is open to health care professionals as well as to the general public. Our professional members include doctors, nurses, counselors & family therapists, nutritionists, personal trainers, naturopaths, Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais teachers, sophrologists, hypnotherapists, and energy practitioners.

To serve the public, HWP organizes monthly evening seminars by guest speakers on a variety of health topics. A forthcoming publication, Health Wise Paris: An Anglophone's Pocket Guide to Health Resources in Paris, will explain the French health care system. A counselor and therapist referral service provides a guide to public and private mental health resources that are available. HWP's First Aid and CPR Workshops are currently being restructured but will be back soon.

Sir Richard Wallace founded the Hertford British Hospital in 1871 in memory of his father Lord Hertford. Following its inauguration in 1877, the hospital had a military and civil role during both World Wars. Today it functions as a private, non-profit making organization. The hospital is part of the French Public Health Service.

The hospital serves both the Anglophone and French population, and is divided into three main services: Surgery, Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. It also offers a wide range of outpatient services including English general practioners. It is linked to the International Centre of Dermatology and the nearby Hôpital Notre-Dame de Perpétuel Secours. Over 50 doctors currently practice at the hospital, of whom the majority are bilingual, giving the hospital a uniquely European outlook.
